The manufacture of cement combines a variety of raw ingredients such as limestone, clay or shale. These raw materials are extracted from the quarry crushed to a very fine powder and then blended in the correct proportions. The resulting raw mix is fed into a cement kiln which heats them to extremely high temperatures of about 1400 C to 1500 C. The abrasiveness of the material is a major factor on the wear of equipment and the extreme high temperatures of the process require specialized equipment.

They are a rugged, dust-free replacement for many more fragile styles of pneumatic feeders. Thanks to a low profile it is an ideal feeder for applications with restricted head room. The screw pumps are designed for high pressure, high temperature, and highly abrasive material.
